A top Prince George's County school official is heading to Nashville to lead the city's school system.
The Washington Post reports that Shawn Joseph will become director of the 86,000-student Metro Nashville Public School system starting July 1. The city's board unanimously voted Friday to offer Joseph the job.
Joseph currently serves as deputy superintendent for teaching and learning for Prince George's County.
Prior to that, he was superintendent of the school system in Seaford, Del. He also was a teacher, principle and administration in Montgomery County's public schools.
Joseph was among six finalists interviewed by Nashville's board for the job.
He says he's looking forward to ``this exciting endeavor.''
