Police Officers Ride to Remember

Howard County police officers embark on 275-mile bike ride

Howard County police officers embarked on a special bike ride to honor their colleagues who have died in the line of duty.

The 275-mile ride started Wednesday in Valley Forge, Pa. It ended today at police headquarters in the District about noon. This is the fourth year that Howard County police officers have participated, but the first time the route passed through the county.

The ride is part of the Police Unity Tour. The bike ride was started by a New Jersey police officer in May 1997, according to the website. The ride started with just 18 people and has grown to about 1,400 members around the country.
