Authorities said three cars, including a taxi and a Metropolitan Police Department cruiser, were involved in a crash early Saturday morning.
While the details behind the cause of crash are still being determined, the scene showed the vehicles scattered around the intersection of 8th Street and H Street, Northeast, shortly after midnight.
The cruiser, carrying two officers, ended up in an unoccupied store front, next to a Rite-Aid pharmacy, and appeared to sustain damage to the front of the vehicle. The taxi ended up next to a light pole with apparent side-impact damage and its front right wheel torn away.
A SUV was seen on H Street, Northeast, suffering from rear impact damage.
The two officers and three people in the taxi were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
