Pedestrian Struck by Prince George's County Police Car

A Prince George’s County Police officer struck a pedestrian in Capitol Heights Wednesday night.

The collision occurred at 8800 Walker Mill Road about 7:30 p.m. 

According to police, it appears the male pedestrian ran in front of the officer’s vehicle as he was driving. Police said the area is dark with no streetlights or crosswalks.

The pedestrian was transported as a trauma patient with serious injuries but is expected to survive, police said.  The officer appears to be uninjured but was taken to the hospital for observation.
