Three Killed in Route 3 Crash, Multiple Injured

Anne Arundel County Police have identified the three people killed in a multi-vehicle crash along Route 3 Tuesday evening.

Michael Thomas Cullen II, 37, was driving his 2009 Toyota Camry southbound on Route 3 near the MD Route 32 overpass when his vehicle was struck from behind by a flat bed truck driven by 36-year-old Jason Nathaniel Pagaypya.

Police say Pagaypa failed to reduce his speed as traffic slowed due to volume at a traffic signal at Route 175.

Bethany Dawn Dempsey, 37, her daughter 14-year-old Lauren White, 14, and Cullen's 7-year-old Abigail Randi Cullen were riding in the backseat of the Camry and were killed.

Cullen is listed in critical but stable condition. His 15-year-old, who was in the front seat, is also in critical but stable condition.

Four others were hospitalized. In all, five passenger vehicles and a flatbed truck were involved.

Route 3 southbound near the Route 32 overpass was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation.

There's no word on whether any charges will be filed.
