D.C. Firefighter Suffers Minor Injuries in Smoky NW Fire

A D.C. firefighter suffered minor injuries during a house fire at the corner of Iowa and Buchanan avenues in Northwest D.C. late Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out on the first floor of a home that had been converted to four apartments. No one was in the home at the time.

The fire was reported by a passer-by who noticed smoke. When D.C. firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke throughout the home.

Though the firefighter is expected to recover, he was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
