Beltway Re-Opens After Car Fire

Outer Loop closed for around 20 minutes

The outer loop of the Capital Beltway has been re-opened after a car fire briefly stopped traffic Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. just past the Connecticut Avenue exit. No injuries were reported and authorities said that the occupants of the car were able to get out. The outer loop was closed for around 20 minutes while the fire was extinguished and the scene was cleared.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
