Return of 8-Car Metro Trains to Continue After Delays

Metro will continue its inspection of about 100 Metro railcars, keeping large eight-car trains off the tracks for longer than expected and leaving commuters with smaller six-car trains.

Metro previously said the troubled 4000-series likely would return to service this week. But News4’s Adam Tuss reports the cars will not be back on the tracks for Tuesday’s commute.

Riders on the 4000-series cars saw trouble recently when car doors opened while the trains were in motion. Riders captured video from inside the trains, showing doors open as trains traveled through tunnels.

There is no timeline for the return of 4000-series railcars. The inspection process is ongoing.
