Home Destroyed in Fire at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling

One home was destroyed after a major fire Monday morning at a residential building at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.

More than 75 firefighters were called to the joint base in Southeast Washington just before 10 a.m. Monday. The fire spread through the building, affecting three connected units.

One home was destroyed, and the adjoining homes are being assessed for smoke and water damage.

Three families were displaced; they will receive temporary lodging from the Navy.

While initial reports indicated several firefighters were injured, Navy District Washington Fire Chief Christopher Scully later said the personnel were examined on scene and determined to be OK.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
