Have the Gaul (No, Really, It's French Music)

Enjoy local artists for annual French Music Festival at Alliance Francais

Comment allez vous? Parlez-vous français? It's cool -- we don't speak French either (thanks, Wikipedia!). But that shouldn't stop any of us from enjoying the Fete de la Musique (Festival of Music) at Alliance Francais (2142 Wyoming Ave. NW), DC's French language and cultural center.

The Fete de la Musique is a 25-year-old French tradition, when professional and amateur musicians share their craft throughout the streets, courtyards and museums.

This Friday evening, Alliance Francais will give the festival a Capital twist, with a wide range of local artists performing inside and outside of the center.

Of course, no respectable French event would be complete without libations, so a enjoy a glass of wine at the cash bar while you're there. Featured acts include trilingual hip-hop act Cristopolis and bilingual hip-hop group Bugs Raleigh. Also featured are DJ Stylus the Vibe Conductor and Heather Renee.

But you might just want to grab a French dictionary on the way there. Our tip? Get it from the library so you don't have to figure out where to store it in your apartment when the day is done.

Free with reservations only at francedc.org. Friday, June 19, 5:30-11:30 p.m.
