The next time you see frog legs on the menu at one of the restaurants in Chinatown or at the Green Olive (offers an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet for $12.99) in Alexandria, you might want to think twice before ordering.
Almost one billion frogs are taken from the wild and sold across the world, mainly to feed people in the U.S. and France, the BBC reported.
Like any other animal that is hunted, there is speculation that the growth in frog demand could hurt the species.
If that is the case, you can surely expect the price to go up.
