Richmond Airport Marks Busiest-ever September

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Richmond International Airport has recorded its busiest September ever with more than 300,000 passengers.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/2eKEXPB) that total passenger traffic at the airport was up nearly 4 percent last month compared with September of last year. This September’s passenger count was 301,895.

Airport spokesman Troy Bells says staff members were worried about a drop-off this year given the increase in traffic in September 2015, driven in part by the UCI cycling races in the city.

Bell says the previous September record was set in 2007.
