Panel Holding Forum on Women's Issues in Maryland Mountains

OAKLAND, Md. (AP) — The Maryland Commission for Women is visiting far Western Maryland as part of a statewide listening tour.

The agency says in a statement it wants to hear about the challenges women face in their everyday lives.

The forum Tuesday in Oakland is part of the commission’s effort to develop recommendations for programs, legislation and policies that affect women. It’s the fourth in a series of nine scheduled meetings around the state.

Women who can’t attend a forum are invited to participate in an online survey .

The commission is a 25-member advisory board established by state law in 1971 to advise the governor and General Assembly on the issues of concern to women.
