BIG STONE GAP, Va. (AP) — Authorities say a Big Stone Gap police officer is facing several sexual assault charges.
Virginia State Police said Monday that Oliver W. Mullins of Pound was arrested last week and is being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
Big Stone Gap Police Chief Steve Hamm said Mullins has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the case.
The charges against the 31-year-old include rape, incest and aggravated sexual battery. He was indicted by a Wise County grand jury.
State Police said its Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Wytheville Field Office launched an investigation into Mullins in April.
