Attorney: Police Video Shows ‘staged Recovery' of Drugs

BALTIMORE (AP) — An attorney says concerns raised by Baltimore police body camera footage led to prosecutors dropping charges against his client.

The Baltimore Sun reports attorney Josh Insley released footage Tuesday that he believes shows officers “engage in what appears to be a staged recovery of narcotics.”

Insley’s client was arrested in November after police searched her car and recovered heroin and marijuana. Video clips obtained by the newspaper shows an officer find a bag of alleged drugs a half hour after another officer’s unsuccessful search.

Police say the video is under investigation. Insley says he’ll pursue legal action against the department.

Prosecutors have dismissed 34 cases relying on three officers’ testimony after the Office of the Public Defender released a different video it says shows an officer planting drugs.
