And you thought having the word "conspiracy" in a title was just an indie rock thing. DC Conspiracy isn't a hipster band struggling to score free beers at DC9. They're actually far, far geekier. No, wait, we didn't say that.
The group of local comics artists is holding their fourth annual Counter Culture Festival this Sunday, May 24, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. at The Soundry (316 Dominion Road, Vienna, VA).
Mix and mingle with local comic book artists, and soak up alternative art, live entertainment, workshops and what they promise to be "mayhem," according to the official Web site.
At any rate, you can get a really, really cool T-shirt.
Some highlights of the schedule (according to us, and we're probably just as weird as these people):
1 p.m.: Performance by Pilesar: "instrumentation may include microphone, voice, toys, broken effects pedals, borrowed instruments, thrift store finds, tapes, and various environmental factors"
2 p.m.: Learn to Crochet with Erica Burns of the DC Craft Mafia.
4 p.m.: Screen-printing
5 p.m.: Performance by Rifle Recoil: songs created from delay pedals into "a wall of sound." Check out his one-man covers.
7 p.m.: The Geek Comedy Tour
8 p.m.: Black-light workshop
Vendors include the DC-based 8th Street Soaps and Arty4ever.com, and comics/art from dozens of locals. Admission is free.
