Chowing Down in Charm City

Food, Food and More Food at a Great Price

Move over holiday season. With the onslaught of restaurant weeks upon us, THIS really is the most wonderful time of the year.

From Aug. 13 to 22, you can hit the road and head north for Baltimore Restaurant Week.

OK, so it’s actually longer than a week, but who’s complaining? For $35.10, enjoy a three-course dinner from the prix-fixe menu at participating resturants. Some spots are even offering a special lunch menu for $20.10. What’s more, parking at downtown Baltimore garages will be discounted during the entire week.... er, 10-day period.

At hip tapas restaurant Pazo (1425 Aliceanna St., Suite 301), indulge in a wide range of tapas from four categories: Cold (think roasted local beets, chévre and arugula pesto), Land (as in chicken, dates, rosemary pinxto), Sea (one example: local sea scallops), and Field (think croquetas with manchego cheese).

Or at Meli American Bistro (1636 Thames St.), begin with butternut squash ravioli, followed by Loup de Mer, and polish it all off with chocolate ganache cake.

Dessert is all the rage at ultra-hip Salt Tavern (2127 E. Pratt St.). where options include goat cheese doughnuts with lavender honey, vanilla sea salt and coffee ice cream, or the "Cake ‘n Shake," a daily selection of cake with a milkshake shot.

If this doesn’t have your mouth watering (seriously, what is wrong with you?!), check out a full list of participating restaurants here. Just remember -- reservations, reservations, reservations!
