Sometimes a holiday is too big for just one day. If you feel you haven't celebrated St. Patrick's Day hard enough March 17, D.C. has you covered the next weekend.
RFK Stadium will host ShamrockFest 2014 this Saturday, March 22 from 3 to 11 p.m. The festival usually draws thousands of people who all want to engage in traditional St. Patrick's Day acitvities: drinking, partying and listening to Dropkick Murphys.
This year's festivities will feature more than 30 bands performing on seven stages, including headliners Dropkick Murphys. It doesn't get more quintessentially St. Patrick's Day then a live performance of "I'm Shipping Up To Boston."
There will be 13 party areas set up on the Shamrock Festival Grounds, with enough beer trucks to span the length of two football fields. If you were worried about there not being enough green beer, don't be.
Besides the music, the festival offer a zipline, mechanical bull, monster slide, jousting and what is billed as the largest cornhole tournament in the mid-Atlantic -- as well as pub game competitions, a huge food and beer market, the Washington Nationals' interactive area and random dancers, bagpipers and leprechauns strolling around the festival grounds.
Tickets are available at ShamrockFest's website with prices ranging from $19.99 to $74.99, increasing as the festival approaches.
