Another festive pop-up bar is opening in Shaw — and this one is Irish-themed, just in time for St. Patrick's Day.
Like its next-door neighbor the cherry blossom bar, Publin comes from D.C. pop-up bar purveyor Drink Company, which calls its newest spot an "ode to spring, delivering the 'luck of the Irish'."
The bar opens Thursday and features decor inspired by the shamrock and Ireland, decked out with flowers and almost 200 oversized four-leaf clovers. Publin also features a "larger-than-life gilded gold beehive suspended above the bar," according to a release.
The cocktail menu features classic whiskeys such as Jameson, Powers and Redbreast. Drink specials include the Tipperary, a Manhattan-style cocktail made with Powers Gold Label, sweet vermouth, Green Chartreuse and orange bitters; the Four Leaf Closure, made with Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition, Green Spot and apple soda; and a traditional Irish coffee.
Publin will be open at 1841 7th St. NW through April 21. The Cherry Blossom Pop-Up Bar is open through the same date.
