If you haven't heard, "Ruminations" is a column written by comedian Aaron Karo. He's been penning his hilarious thoughts on life as a young professional since 1997. Karo describes a rumination as a "short, funny observation or anecdote." Karo still writes his bi-weekly columns, tours with a stand-up show, and has a comedy CD and tens of thousands of followers across the country. So he created a place for his fans to simply share their own musings.
At www.ruminations.com you can "ruminate" with fellow members of the site. If you log into the site, you will find enough material to have you laughing out loud in your cubicle for hours. No topic is off limits: work woes, drinking stories, relationship hangups and sex ... it's all covered in this comedy forum.
If you really vibe with a certain rumination, you can "gourmet" it. The more "gourmet points" a rumination receives, the higher it is rated. Take this contribution from one member of www.ruminations.com. It is one of the "most gourmet" ruminations of all time.
"I wish Google Maps had an 'Avoid Ghetto' routing option."
Or this one:
"I don't understand the purpose of the line, 'I don't need to drink to have fun.' Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they've invented the lighter?"
Whether you think it is a sad realization of the what's important to the young leaders of tomorrow or just a hilarious insight to life after college in a technology saturated world, you can't deny it's addicting.
Karo himself, who in a recent column mourned the fact he was soon turning 30, shares this rumination:
"I still keep a ping pong ball in my apartment. Just in case."
