First, it was Google Talk. Then it was Twitter's turn to crash Thursday afternoon.
From Twitter's status blog as of about 11:45 a.m.:
"Users may be experiencing issues accessing Twitter. Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue."
Visitors to the site were greeted with the half-formed message: ``Twitter is currently down for %(equals) reason %.''
"We expect to be back in %(equals) deadline %,'' the site said.
Sluggishness or outages were reported from countries in North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, according to the Associated Press. Some users were apparently able to post updates through their phones or third-party applications.
But Twitter services appeared to return to normal by about 1:10 p.m. Thursday.
Google Talk went down for about five hours Thursday morning. Google gave the all-clear at 11:25 a.m., but did not say what the cause of the outage was.
