Woman Gets 18 Months for Hitting 2 Bicyclists in Annapolis

A woman convicted of hitting two bicyclists, seriously injuring one of them, while she was driving drunk has been sentenced to 18 months in jail.

Robin Vera Colbert, 55, of Annapolis, was sentenced last week in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.

Colbert said she made a poor decision to drive while intoxicated, reported the Capital of Annapolis.

Prosecutors say on June 28, Colbert was driving south on Governor Ritchie Highway in Annapolis when she drove onto the right shoulder and struck two bicylists: 23-year-old Katie Pohler of Glen Burnie and 27-year-old Todd Green of Severna Park.

Pohler and Green had been biking on the trail portion.

Colbert was convicted of causing a life-threatening injury while under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol while transporting a minor.
