A 28-year-old woman was charged with fatally stabbing her mother's boyfriend in Oxon Hill, Md.

Police took 28-year-old Kimberly E. Smith into custody at the scene of the slaying, which occurred late Thursday night at her home, according to Prince George’s County police.

Charles Blyther, 51, was arguing with Smith's mother when Smith grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Blyther, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Smith told investigators she was involved in the killing, police said, and the knife was recovered.
