Tractor-Trailer Carrying 93 Cattle Overturns in Md.

A tractor-trailer carrying 93 cattle overturned on Interstate 81 near Hagerstown, Maryland, during the snowstorm, police said.

First Sgt. Curt Dominick said the accident late Thursday morning closed one of two southbound lanes near the U.S. 40 interchange.

He said both lanes may be closed for part of the afternoon so the cattle can be moved to another truck and the accident scene cleared.

Police said no people were hurt in the crash; it's not clear whether any cattle were killed.

The accident is one of many that have snarled traffic on interstates 81 and 70 in western Maryland.

The National Weather Service said the storm dropped 6 inches of snow in Hagerstown and as much as 9 1/2 inches in other parts of western and central Maryland.
