Suspect Arrested for Hate-Based Vandalisms in Maryland

AP

Montgomery County Police have arrested the man they believe is behind a wave of hate-based tire slashing in Wheaton.

Police charged 52-year-old Steven Armstrong. He's accused of vandalizing the cars of 21 different people between March 2006 and August 2010. The victims were primarily Hispanic.

Officers recovered evidence from Armstrong's home after a witness reported him vandalizing his neighbor's car in late August.

Police are anticipating more victims will step forward.
