Skeletal Remains Found in Md. Could Be Those of Missing Woman

Police are working to identify the skeletal remains of a woman found along the shores of Chesapeake Bay.

Investigators believe the remains could belong to a woman who went missing within the past year.

Officers were called to the shore near Holly and Chesapeake Drive in Shady Side, Maryland, Wednesday afternoon after officers received reports about human remains.

Responding officers found the remains and called homicide detectives.

Police, detectives and Department of Natural Resources staff searched the shore extensively and found more remains, police said.

Investigators believe the victim is a white or Asian female who was about 5 feet, 3 inches tall, police say. She is believed to be in her mid-twenties to about 30 years old.

Police are still trying to confirm a cause and manner of death.

Anne Arundel County police are working with other departments to identify the remains.

Anyone with information is asked to call Anne Arundel County Homicide Unit at 410-222-4731.
