Trains on Metro's Red Line have been traveling slower than usual due to overnight track work, and with more Red Line work scheduled for the weekend, some passengers say they're frustrated with the delays.
Metro crews have been working overnight on rail fasteners and sections of running rail that needed immediate replacement between the Friendship Heights and Bethesda stations.
And a 15 mile per hour speed limit for trains going between the two stations, allow the new track to settle during the day.
Nancy Baker, a regular Red Line rider, says the speed restrictions have caused significant delays during her morning and evening commutes.
"It's been horrible, we just spent 45 minutes coming from Shady Grove going 15 miles an hour," Baker says.
Trains should return to normal speeds by the middle of the week, but more delays are in store for the weekend on the same stretch of track as more new rail is laid.
