Maryland Soldier Home for the Holidays – All at Once

A soldier from Rockville, Md., is all caught up on the holidays now, thanks to his mother.

Maj. Brian Andrews had been deployed in Afghanistan for 400 days. When he returned home this weekend, he was welcomed with Thanksgiving dinner, birthday cake, Halloween candy and Christmas presents.

His mother said she felt bad that he'd missed out on family gatherings for more than a year, so she planned the multi-holiday event.

"Well, I couldn't give him back his 400 days, but I can get him caught up on all his celebrations, so I thought it would be fun to do them all in one day," Joan Kramer said.

Andrews's return was capped off with a New Year's Eve countdown Saturday night.
