A 20-year-old Burke man has been arrested and charged for stabbing an 18-year-old in a dorm room in Berg Hall at Marymount University.

On the evening of Dec. 14, the suspect, Francis Joseph "Frankie" Maguire, allegedly confronted the victim in another student's dorm room. Both Maguire and the victim -- a Warrenton man -- live in the dormitory.

According to Arlington County police, both the Maguire and the victim had been drinking.

Maguire and the victim got into an altercation and the victim punched Maguire in the face. Police say Maguire slashed the victim across stomach, lacerating his pancreas and exposing his intestines. The victim was transported the hospital.

Police found the victim on the floor with a trail of blood leading to the suspect's room. Maguire was locked in his dorm room with his girlfriend when police took him into custody.
