Man Arrested For Secretly Videotaping Women in Their Home

Howard County police have arrested a Columbia man accused of secretly videotaping two women in their condo over several months.

Michael Stephen McKenny, 42, was charged with multiple counts of burglary, visual surveillance with prurient intent and videotaping a person in a private residence without consent.

Police say McKenny knew the women who lived in the Ellicott City condo, and stole a key and copied it so that he could enter the home easily. According to investigators, he entered the home several times during daytime hours, moving the camera from one bedroom, to the bathroom, to the other bedroom so that he could film the women.

The women recently discovered the camera, and Thursday police released clips of a man who appeared to be adjusting it. Detectives said numerous tips helped them quickly identify McKenny as a suspect.

McKenny is being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $100,000 bond.
