Lifeguard, Bystander Pull Four-Year-Old Boy From Pool, Perform CPR

Two people are credited with preventing a tragedy after a four-year-old boy nearly drowned at a Riverdale, Maryland apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.

Prince George's County Fire and Rescue are giving credit to the pool's lifeguard and a bystander for their quick response.

The two pulled the boy from the deep end of the pool and began CPR while they waited for rescue crews to arrive at the complex at 5243 Kenilworth Ave.

The boy was breathing when medics arrived. He was taken to an area hospital for a checkup.
