A Capitol Hill staffer, who lost his life in a shooting spree nearly one year ago, will forever be remembered in Washington. The House plans on renaming a room in the Capitol Visitor Center after Gabe Zimmerman.
Zimmerman worked for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. He was with the Arizona Democrat when a gunman opened fire in Tucson in January. Zimmerman and five other people were killed in the shooting. Giffords was injured; she continues to recuperate in Houston.
The House will vote today on a measure that would name room HVC 215 as the “Gabriel Zimmerman Meeting Room.”
Gabe Zimmerman was the first Congressional staffer murdered in the line of duty.
