A fatal crash on the Outer Loop of the Beltway early Monday morning in the Silver Spring area caused traffic to back up for miles for hours.
The crash happened just after 2 a.m. on the Outer Loop between Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue and involved a tractor-trailer and at least two other vehicles.
One person died and an accident reconstruction team was called to the scene.
The road was closed completely until about 6:10 a.m. when two lanes re-opened.
