An Arlington County police officer became the victim of a hit-and-run Friday morning.

Police said the officer was working a traffic detail in the 1700 block of North Glebe Road at about 2 a.m.  He was sitting in his cruiser when Luis Alonso Argueta-Amaya, 23, crashed into the officer's car and then drove off, police said.

Police caught up with him blocks away after he was involved in a second accident.

Argueta-Amaya was arrested and charged with DWI and felony hit-and-run.

The officer was taken to a hospital. He's expected to make a full recovery.
