D.C. police are investigating whether a prop used on last Sunday’s "Meet the Press" broke the law.

During an interview with National Rifle Association leader Wayne LaPierre, "Meet the Press" moderator David Gregory showed what he said is a magazine that can be used to arm an assault rifle.

Some on social media have been asking whether that violated the district’s gun laws.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Department tells NBC4 the department is investigating.

So far, no official comment from NBC News.
