Clarksburg Home Intentionally Set on Fire: Officials

Some residents of a Clarksburg, Maryland, townhouse community woke up early Labor Day morning to the sound of fire alarms and the smell of smoke.

Flames engulfed a townhome at 22663 Majestic Elm Court just before 6 a.m. and spread to the house next door.

"Definitely kind of disconcerting to see that kind of thing happening," said neighbor Mike Oats.

No one was injured, but Montgomery County fire officials said someone purposely set fire to the home, which caused $75,000 in damages.

A message spray-painted on the townhome's driveway appears to be directed at a person who lives next door to the home that was set on fire.

"I think whoever did this may have gotten the wrong, you know, they may have picked the wrong house," Oats said.

No arrests have been made, according to fire officials.
