Child Pornography Found on Maryland Sheriff's Officer's Phone: U.S. Attorney

Child pornography was found on a Maryland sheriff's officer’s phone, according to an affidavit.

A company that provides cloud security tipped the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about suspected child pornography uploaded to a specific phone number in October and November, according to the affidavit.

A Charles County Sheriff’s officer investigated the number and recognized the name of the man it belonged to as a fellow officer.

A search warrant for Alexander C. Sullivan, 37, of King George, Virginia, was executed Nov. 17, according to the U.S. attorney’s office. More than 200 images and five videos of child pornography were found.

Sullivan, who recently moved to Virginia from Indian Head, Maryland, was arrested Monday evening and charged with possession of child pornography. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

A judge ordered Sullivan's release under the conditions he stay away from children and submit to electronic monitoring.

“We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners as the investigation moves forward,” Charles County Sheriff Troy D. Berry said in a news release.
