The weather is finally cooperating with the District Department of Transportation's plans for Chain Bridge construction.

After months of weather-related delays, DDOT crews will be able to do the bridge reconstruction work this weekend. That means the bridge will be closed to pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

Construction crews will pour new concrete, replace the expansion joints and fix streetlights on the bridge.

The entire construction project should be completed by May 31.  This could mean more closures in the future.

The work was supposed to have been done in January and February.  However back-to-back blizzards prevented this.

The bridge closes Friday at 8 p.m. and reopens Monday at 5 a.m.
