Boat Parade of Lights Illuminates Waterfront

Route runs from Alexandria Waterfront to Washington Channel

Decked out in holiday lights, nearly three dozen boats floated down the Potomac River in the 13th annual Holiday Boat Parade of Lights Saturday evening.

Beginning at 5 p.m., a line of powerboats and sailboats sailed from the Alexandria waterfront to the Washington Channel while hundreds watched from the shore. The parade included the District of Columbia's fireboat, the John H. Glenn Jr., which spouted water 70 feet in the air.

Among the prizes that boats were competing for were Hardiest Souls, Best Thinking Outside the Christmas Box, Most Spirited Crew, Best Spirit of America, and Best in Show.
