3 Puppies Survive Abandonment at King George's County Landfill

9 puppies in a trash bag filled with water dropped in a garbage bin

Authorities increased the reward for solving an abandoned puppies case in King George County, Va.

Someone dumped a trash bag filled with puppies in a trash bin at the King George County landfill Sept. 20. Six of the nine puppies didn’t survive.

Mike Watts, who works at the landfill and discovered the puppies, can’t believe someone could leave them like that.

“I mean, the puppies wasn’t even a day old,” he said.

He heard the puppies crying in the garbage bin and found them in a bag half filled with water.

The reward for information in the case has reached $1,200 – the first $500 from the King George Animal Rescue League was matched by a private donor, and two others each offered $100. Anyone with information about the case should call 540-775-2049.

Anyone interested in adopting the puppies should call 540-775-3123, extension 119, or email Bridgid Maciejewski.
