A fiery tractor-trailer crash on the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway in Prince George's County left one man dead and injured another, and lanes of the highway remain closed, according to authorities.
All but one lane of the Inner Loop were open as of 8 a.m.
Police said the tractor-trailer struck several cars and then slammed into a bridge embankment of the D'Arcy Road overpass in Forestville, Md., and caught fire at about 11 p.m. Tuesday. The driver of the tractor-trailer was trapped inside the cab of the truck and died.
Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady said paramedics also treated at least one injured person.
D'Arcy Road was closed in the area until engineers could test the structure of the bridge. It reopened just before 7 a.m. Wednesday.
