A school bus driver in Stafford County, Va., resigned after she was accused of showing students an inappropriate photo.
The alleged incident took place on a bus Tuesday, and parents of some A.G. Wright Middle School students brought it to the principal's attention Wednesday, NBC Washington's Elaine Reyes reported.
The driver -- a veteran school bus driver who transports middle school, elementary school and high school students -- was immediately taken off the route and then resigned before an investigation could be launched.
School system officials said they haven't seen the picture.
"I can only address what the students say they saw," said Stafford County School spokesperson Valerie Cottongim told Reyes. "We have not seen the photograph. But the children are describing it as pornographic."
The driver's attorney advised her not to comment on the matter.
Some fellow bus drivers and friends said her side of the story needs to be told. They told Reyes that the bus driver was forced to resign or get fired and that the driver claims she only showed the students a photograph of a new puppy on her cell phone, but once the student got hold of the phone, they went through it on their own.
