The trial of the man accused of killing D.C. intern Chandra Levy will remain in Washington.
A D.C. Superior Court judge denied a change-of-venue motion Friday.
Lawyers for Ingmar Guandique argued that extensive media coverage of the case would make it difficult for him to get an unbiased jury.
During Friday’s court appearance, defense attorneys also filed a motion to keep out statements Guandique made to police. The judge did not rule on that motion. It is expected to be decided on another day.
Levy disappeared in 2001. Her body was found in Rock Creek Park a year later.
Guandique has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
His trial is set to take place in October.
