What's New at the 2016 NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo?

We're excited about several NEW events at the 2016 NBC4 Health & Fitness Expo!

For the first time this year, we're offering the NBC4 Healthy Book Festival. Meet some of your favorite authors who write about health -- and buy a book and get it signed!

At the Healthy Book Festival, we're thrilled to welcome former Olympian and best-selling author Suzy Favor Hamilton, who will speak at 12:45 p.m. Saturday about her memoir, "Fast Girl: A Life Spent Running from Madness." In it, Hamilton speaks frankly about her success on the track -- and the trouble she had understanding the rest of her life until she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

And we are excited to hear from Tom Foreman, who will talk about his memoir, "My Year of Running Dangerously: A Dad, a Daughter, and a Ridiculous Plan." Plus, Lou Schuler, M R Johnson and many other well-known health writers are also set to appear.

See the schedule for the NBC4 Healthy Book Festival, presented by Barnes & Noble, online here.

Also new this year: We've devoted a whole stage to the practice of yoga! Whether you are an experienced yogi or a yoga newbie, the discipline can help strengthen and calm you.

Come to the NBC4 Yoga Weekend Stage as we open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday -- the first 50 participants will get a FREE yoga mat!

Finally, we've added depth to a part of the Expo that was new -- and popular -- last year. We're bringing speakers to our Changing Minds pavilion, where they can talk frankly about their issues around mental health.

For more than a year, News4 has been running a series of stories about mental health and mental illness. We want to help erase the stigma that can prevent honest conversations, and we want everyone to feel empowered to care for their minds as well as their bodies.

We have a series of speakers in the Changing Minds pavilion this year -- including Hamilton and representatives from the National Alliance on Mental Illness, CrisisLink, Adventist HealthCare Behavioral Health & Wellness Services and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. See the full schedule of Changing Minds speakers here.

We can't wait to see you at the Expo!
