FDA Recalls 500 Cough, Cold, Allergy Medications

None cause serious side effects

On Wednesday, the Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of about 500 prescription cough, cold and allergy medications. The recall does not affect any over-the-counter medicines.

Although the recalled medications are on the market, many became available years before tougher rules regulating drugs went into effect. None has been associated with serious side effects.

Some of the medicines are for children under the age of 2, even though the FDA has advised against giving cough medicine to kids that young.
