A man was shot on the campus of Morgan State University in Baltimore before 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The man was shot in the stomach at the student center. He was taken to a hospital and was in surgery Wednesday night, police said.
Police are looking for the shooter. Students who saw the shooter are providing police with a description, and a security camera may have caught the shooter on tape.
The campus was on lock down but the all clear was given before 6:15 p.m. An alert sent to the campus community asked people to avoid the student center. Evening classes were canceled, but Thursday's classes continued as scheduled.
Neither the shooter nor the victim are believed to be Morgan State students.
Police said they believe the victim was on campus to attend a sporting event. University officials believe the men knew each other, the Associated Press reported.
