Angelina Jolie Opens Up About Life, Family, Career

The global superstar got personal in an exclusive interview with "60 Minutes" Sunday night

Between starring in major Hollywood films, criss-crossing the globe for her humanitarian efforts, and raising a brood of six children, Angelina Jolie rarely has time to sit down and reflect.

But she got the chance this weekend, appearing on "60 Minutes" for a surprisingly personal interview.

Most significantly, Jolie admitted that she'll never live up to the example set by her own maternal role model.

"My mother was a full-time mother. She didn't have much of her own career, her own life, her own experiences," Jolie said of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who passed away in 2007. "Everything was for her children."

A tearful Jolie continued, ""I will never be as good a mother as she was. I will try my best, but I don't think I ever will be. She was the most generous, loving woman. She's better than me."

Jolie then went on to discuss her debut directorial effort - the Bosnian war-set drama "In the Land of Milk and Honey" set for release in December - and her early alternate career plans that could have seen the A-list movie star become a...funeral director?

"It sounds like this very strange, eccentric, dark thing to do but in fact I lost my grandfather and was very upset with his funeral," she said. "If this whole acting thing didn't work out that was going to be my path."

"In the Land of Milk and Honey" is set to be released December 23rd.
