Sample Small Plates, Wine Pairings at Taste of Linganore Food & Wine Festival

Linganore Winecellars in Mount Airy, Md., will host its first Taste of Linganore festival Aug. 11, where more than 20 restaurants, caterers and food trucks will dish up food to pair with Linganore wines.

From noon to 5 p.m., you can eat, drink and shop at the gourmet farmers market, and enjoy live music from Peter James during a day of culinary exploration and relaxation.

Snack on small plates from Big Bully BBQ, Great Harvest Bread Company, Hot Stuff Paninis, Uncle Moe's Soul Food and more.

Admission is $12 online or $15 at the gate for those age 21+, and $8 online or $10 at the gate for designated drivers or those under 21.  Admission includes wine tasting, tour and “Taste of” food tickets.

Named Maryland's best winery in 2012, Linganore produces a sizable output, includes dry and sweet whites and reds, more than half a dozen fruit wines and Medieval Mead (although that one's only for the Maryland Renaissance Festival, so you'll at least have to wait until August for it).

Linganore is located at 13601 Glissans Mill Road in Mt. Airy, Md., about an hour and 20 minutes from downtown D.C.

Event proceeds will benefit Share Our Strength, a campaign dedicated to ending childhood hunger in the U.S.
