"I bought this decaying nobleman's house for a bit of money," says Italian architect and founder of B-Arch Studio, Sabrina Bignami, of her romantic, opulent guesthouse, Casa Orlandi, near Florence. "The Italians are great at ancient and are also great at modern interior design but they are not so hot at usually mixing the two!" she continues. But Sabrina proves the opposite with her sensitive restoration of the 18th century palazzo. There, painstakingly revamped frescoes mingle with clean-lined furniture including a midcentury Saarinen table and chairs. Talk about a mix master!
