Why You're Going to the Beach This Weekend

Ocean City introduces Hotel Week!

Vacation procrastinators, rejoice! If you've held off on taking a little trip to the beach, Ocean City now plans to reward you for it. Or twist your arm with discounts and deals that could make it even harder to resist waiting for Labor Day weekend.

Taking a cue from restaurant week, Ocean City has debuted its own Hotel Week to make trips a little more wallet-friendly as the summer winds down. Some 40 hotels are offering specials, with discounts ranging from 15 percent off to a free night or two.

The Comfort Inn Gold Coast offer gives the most concrete idea of how much you would pay : $300 for a three-night stay (about 25 percent less than the cheapest booking rate currently offered on their reservations site -- $133 a night).

And there's no need to shell out extra cash for a movie or even dessert when you get to Ocean City. Hotel Week also includes a number of events, including free family-friendly films on the beach ("The Princess and the Frog," anyone?!) and free concerts. The most delicious-sounding one on the list is Sundaes in the Park, (unsurprisingly) described as a "popular event" on the Hotel Week website.

Head over there to check out all of the specials, then head over to the beach already! Hotel Week is over on Sept. 2.
